As a Nation of millions struggles in a mad dash to grow a neck beard, I lean back and laugh. The cries are gone, it’s as if the fans forgot they were fans, forgot that they’d sold this year off… As if Josh McDaniels would do better next year…Without Jay Cutler we wouldn’t do much, really? I tried to tell you… Listen to the podcasts, I said 12-4 this season, that was my prediction. Granted I got notoriety last season for predicting 13-3. I was wrong. Fuck, I’m allowed to be wrong, am I not?
I’ve been in Charlotte, NC for the weekend and I at one point had the whole bar cheering for Denver and then Brandon Marshall decided to be Brandon Marshall again. The kid can play ball and when he decides to play ball there’s not a mother fucker in the league who can stop him. He’s a bull with his nuts tied… Screaming with all the tenacity he’s got in life, “Try and tackle me you piece of shit!” The dude kills, makes people miss and just flat out bowls people over through tenacity. Glad that he showed up and glad that he’s finally decided to play ball.
So we’re four and zero (somewhere Woody Paige just shit his pants). McDaniels the amazing offensive genius comes in and it turns out that it’s the Broncos defense that is winning the games. I tweeted during the game that the Broncos best offense is their defense… And that’s okay… I’ll take that. The offense gets hot when it needs to be hot, the running game is still a, ‘Plug in anybody,’ type system… The penalties were the most troubling thing… Are we cheaters? There’s another team that used to get called cheaters, we even have to play them next week.
So bring on the New England Patriots, let’s stab this fucking flag in the ground already, seriously. I don’t care if we go 5-11 this season, Sunday is our Super Bowl. McDaniels gets to go against the man who did his best to sabotage McDaniels entire career. How do you think news got released that the Broncos were in the market for Matt Cassel? Bill Belichick let it slip, McDaniels will get a chance to return the favor finally. As I wrote when I was writing for BroncoTalk, ‘Chin Check,’ and this is exactly what we’re facing here. You think McDaniels doesn’t know how to beat Tom Brady? Well, did you see the Cleveland Browns game? Yeah, Denver thumped former Patriot’s defensive coordinator Eric Mangini.
Can the student be greater than the teacher? Is Denver for real? People have been asking that since week three, using the game against the Dallas Cowboys as the litmus test… Well, we won that game and if the Patriots are our toughest game (and they happen to be the toughest game we’re going to have all week) then Denver looks to be in pretty good shape…
Expect a lot this week, I’m pumped nation and Danh’s getting back from the Ukraine! So we’ll have a podcast up for you guys.
